Planning Blog

Planning blog

Props:
I chose to do “Insane” - by Summer Walker I plan to use my phone, makeup, hair products as a prop to show a story throughout the song.

Costumes:
In my music video, I will grab two other friends and myself as the subjects. They would be wearing normal everyday clothing. Something along the lines of jeans, joggers, a graphic t-shirt, and a jacket if they want. They’re shoes could be slides or sneakers. I might also use phones as their props and show made up texts. If this wasn’t possible we would just show the two actors talking.

Schedule:
11/9, I will be doing an intro blog
11/9, I will be turning in a group blog
11/12, I will be doing research and doing a blog on it
11/16, I will start to plan it out and plan out a blog
11/19, I will be starting to put out a storyboard
11/29-12/10, I’ll be starting the recording of the scenes
12/13, I’ll be posting the music video
12/17, I’ll be reflecting and writing down my process

Locations list:
My main location will be the park, I’ll be recording my actors talking and the main actor acting “insane”. This really emphasizes the music video's name.

Our second location is my house, at this location, I will film the main actor planning out or reading text messages while going through her normal day. This will help the main plot of the music video.

Backup plan:
If the weather isn’t preferable then I’ll find a way to film on another day in or in my house. If one of my friends of absent then I’ll use another one of my friends to take their spot.

R&B : The One Where the R Stands for Research

Research: music video conventions and codes

I will be doing a R&B music video. In these videos, the audience usually hears the music while the video tells a story or shows the people rapping or singing.

In the videos I watched such as from “Ex for a reason”, the costumes vary but they were both wearing short shorts and have on bra-like tops. Her outfit changed a couple times but it always fit the vibe of the song and the music video all around. The costume always depends on the setting.
In the music videos I watched there really weren’t any props used because it was them rapping/singing the lyrics as the songs go along and showing them. They do use things like phones, hait products/makeup to match the "getting ready scene" but it's really focused on the story/interactions with each other.
The appearance in R&B music videos varies depending on the artist, but in the ones I watched they were all very fit with makeup on, they all looked glam because of the party like setting.
The score in this music video will be R&B based similar to the ones I watched.

Conventions and codes in the R&B music videos that I watched usually contained who helped produce the song, who the label is, and sometimes the song title. They music video also had a whole bunch of extra actors to really show of the fun/party vibe they were going for. All of this is usually to give credit to all the people that helped in the making of the video.
In the videos i watched they focused on the artist more then anything to show that they made the song and it also focused on maintaining the the vibe of the song so the music video and song don’t clash
The music videos showed features in the song by letting them have their part usually no more then 30 seconds and they also seemed to spend time in the music video like close friends to keep up with the song. Music videos I watched were fast paced and they seemed to be at a party but it matched with the lyrics.

Still Alone!

For my music video  project I will be working alone. Generally, I love working in groups and find things easier to do when the work is equally divided with somebody/in a group. However, I don\"t actually know anybody in my class since I keep to myself in my little corner. Group work can also be a wild card when you\"re unsure of your member\"s work ethic/style. In a group, roles need to be decided/assigned, a member may not want to do their part, people may miss important days etc. There\"s just way too many factors that I can\"t really control.Since working with others can get a little  too complicated, especially with strangers, so I\"m choosing to embark on this journey on my own.  Even though I usually prefer being in a group, I actually work pretty well independently and have faith in myself. The only worries I have about being alone are not completely understanding something and some parts of the music video making process. Some parts being the storyboard and recording the footage while being in the footage. I am starting to think these issues through and know I\"ll find a way.Honestly, I don\"t think doing this project alone will be EXTREMELY difficult but I’ve done it before and will figure it out again.  I know that if I need any clarification or anything I can always ask someone around me or my teacher.  I\"m still not too sure on how I\"d actually film the music video  on my own and be in it but I think I have a plan. I plan on planning everything out to a T so I can fix whatever needs to be fixed in time. So far I have a lot of good ideas on what I want my product to be and have a good understanding of the process itself. I\"ve been reviewing the expectations thoroughly so that I make sure I have everything I need.  I think if I just follow my guidelines for this project meticulously then I\"ll be able to do everything well and get a good grade.I just want to make my music video creative, relevant to today and overall put together. I also want to make sure I have an amazing comprehension of the process so I\"m basically a pro by the final task at the end of the year.

It’s Me! …Again

Welcome to my intro blog, where you get to learn all about me, Baneishah. Being raised around smartphones, social media and basically living at the movie theater gave me a natural interest in all things media. Growing up in an age of media with that interest I thought taking an AICE media studies class would be an interesting route. So far it\"s been pretty interesting learning about films/movies and how they\"re made. I\"m excited to be able to experience the making of my own  piece of media firsthand again. I naturally love to think about movies and how I would change them or how I\"d make my own. Although  being creative doesn\"t always naturally flow to me I\"m up for the challenge. I like being challenged in a creative sense, mainly because I love to see what new ideas I can come up with. I now have more  experience with the technicalities of making one but I\"m eager to do better this time . Along with this excitement I am also a little nervous due to my lack of experience but I am definitely more prepared then last time . I\"m not entirely afraid of filming but I am anxious about story boarding, and editing. The storyboard process still seems like it is the most difficult for me. I\"m not good at drawing and I feel like capturing six seconds onto a piece of paper is hard. I just can\"t imagine how I would illustrate someone waving or showing a product at an angle on a piece of paper. Editing is probably now my favorite part. Editing an entire video especially having to drop scenes and rearrange them is like the finishing touches . After doing my first video, I am now more prepared for this. When I envision something I want it to turn out exactly how it is in  my mind, however this is my first ever project like this.  I\"m prepared to make a couple mistakes and learn from them with this project, I just hope I don\"t make too much of a mistake and everything turns out just right. I\"m ready to get this project done and out of the way, make some mistakes, learn from them and end up doing an even better job on the next one. I\"m ready to bring my creative side out and put out great ideas into my projects.

Title Website Research

For my title design research, I get to explore two really cool websites. The two websites are artofthetitle.com and watchthetitles.com.These...
